Paint-Ins
February Paint-In - Carol Spohn
This is a beginner piece and you should be able to
complete it in class. Although this is a watercolor, it not
that far of a stretch from acrylic painting. This is a great
project to try watercolors. We will use real geranium
leaves to stamp on color; and watercolor and sanding
watercolor pencils pigment to accent the flowers.
Please bring your regular watercolor supplies including
2 water containers, pop-up tissues, paper towels, spray
bottle with a fine mist, kneaded eraser, a 3/4" or larger
flat brush, #8 and #12 round brush (a larger one and a
smaller one.) You can use your regular acrylic brushes
for watercolor. I will have a limited supply of brushes
if you would like to buy a brush.

Finished size is 5 1/2" x 7 1/2". I will trace the pattern
for you and supply the watercolor paper, pattern packet,
photo, paint, color pencil and sandpaper for the supply
fee of $15. If you are a fast painter, you may have time
to paint 2 paintings, or at least start a second one. I will
have a second line drawing if interested.

If you haven't already signed up, please call Carol at
651-698-6444 or email her at cozzz@comcast.net to reserve
your spot.
April Paint-In - Jan Richie
Make a 16 page art journal from only one sheet of 22 X 30 watercolor paper! There are pages that flip out to
create a three page spread. The journal is 8 X 10 and fun to work with! It doesn’t have to be an art journal –
you can use it for what you like.

More details will follow in next newsletter! It is finished by painting each page a solid color or two with
watercolor paints, and then a very simple pamphlet stitch is used. It takes about 15 minutes to put together.

Pictures are of one I’ve started and also a photo of one with the flipped page showing. We’ll do the cover for
those who would like to, and everyone’s will be different. Let’s get creative and have fun with this!

I will provide the watercolor paper (Fabriano is used to prevent cracking edges).  Palette of paint will be $5.00
or bring your favorite colors.  Cost will be $10.00 to include the watercolor paper, waxed linen, molding paste
for one stencil and use of my needles, stencils, stamps, glue, scrapbook papers, various acrylic paints, and ink
pads as well as pattern packet.  If you have an old dictionary, tear out a piece of a definition you would like to
include.  I used "sunshine" on this one.  Other ideas would be "art," "journal," "watercolor," "book," etc.

In addition, please bring:  large watercolor brush, regular supplies, black and any permanent colored markers
you may have.   Bring LOTS of paper towels and some wax paper.

Please sign up at February meeting, call Jan at 952-897-1607 or e-mail jan@richieresource.com.
