ROSEMARY WEST, CDA, SEMINAR
OCT. 8, 9 & 10, 2010 (FRI., SAT. & SUN.)
We are fortunate to have Rosemary West, CDA, coming to teach a
seminar this year. She has been a teacher, artist and author of
Folk Art Painting for many years and does not do a lot of travel
teaching any more. TCDAG has had her booked on our schedule for
several years and at last, the time has finally arrived.
She is the author of many books, magazine articles and pattern
packets. You
can see some of her designs at dellaandcompany.com. Rosemary
has a wonderful whimsical style, using a dynamic color palette that’
s a feast for the eyes. Her pieces look complex but she uses a lot
of dry brushing and you’ll achieve great results with her techniques.
On, Fri., 10/8/10, we will paint Old Silver Pot, with 2 sides of Folk
Art Fruit (we’ll do one side in class), on a metal teapot or other
surface of your choice.
Sat. & Sun., 10/9 & 10/10/10, we will paint a 2 day project, Tree of
Life Box. We will paint the top and the front designs of the box and
get the pattern and photos for the sides of the box. You can
purchase this "Slope Top Box" at uniquewoods.com, or substitute a
surface of your choice. The 2 designs could go on a tray, plaque,
etc. (Dimensions will be in the newsletter once the Chair gets the
patterns or more information.)
Paint will be provided by Jo Sonja (Chroma) paints.
The Seminar will be held at the Andover Senior Center, 1865
Crosstown Blvd. NW, Andover, MN 55304. The Seminar will be held
from 9 - 5, each day.
